About Curia
Situated in the heart of the Bairrada wine region, Curia was born as a result of the healing properties of its mineral waters, discovered by the Romans during their occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.
Go back in time to the nostalgic golden 1920s and enjoy the "Belle Epoque" and "Art Nouveau" architecture. Enjoy the gigantic trees, pure scented air, and take a walk in the beautiful gardens and leafy park of the Spa. Or set off for a walk through the picturesque vineyard paths.
Above all, feel the rare pleasure of living a sense of freedom and space where the only limits are the immensity of green from the trees and the infinite blue sky.
The Curia Spa
Curia owes its existence to the healing properties of its famous mineral waters. As far back as Roman times, the quality of its water was known - for them, Curia was Aquae Curiva (the healing water).
Today, Curia is a modern health resort offering sophisticated treatments for conditions including: renal, uric, oxalic and phosphatic lithiasis, urinary infections, cystitis, pyelitis, gout, arterial hypertension, rheumatism and muscular-skeletal illnesses.
Treatments include oral water ingestion, bathing (with underwater douche or air-bubble), douches (jet or shower), automatic hydromassage, sauna, rehabilitation swimming-pool, gymnasium with mechanotherapy, massage, and electrotherapy.
The beautiful spa park offers the opportunity to take long relaxing walks through avenues with luxurious vegetation and centenary trees surrounding the lake. You can also rent a boat or pedal boat.

Bairrada Gastronomy
The Bairrada gastronomy is one of the country's most famous. Don't miss these regional specialities:
Leitao a Bairrada (Suckling Pig)
The secret of its fame lies in the knowledge and art of the region's "assadores" (roasters): the choice of animal (age, size and feeding), the slaughter, preparation and flavouring with pork fat, garlic, pepper and salt, and the furnace. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours to cook and ends with a dark golden look and crackling skin. Eat it hot, warm or cold, with potato chips, orange slices and lettuce. Drink it with a good Bairrada sparkling wine.
Cabidela
Prepared with small chopped pieces of suckling pig's heart, lungs and liver, blood and potatoes, flavoured with "molho de leitao" (suckling pig sauce), pork fat, salt, olive oil, onion, red wine and water.
Chanfana a Bairrada
Served at special occasions - weddings, christenings and religious festivities. Made from goat or sheep meat and cooked in a wooden oven for 4 to 5 hours inside special black clay casseroles.
Negalhos
Small meat balls made from chunks of goat or pork meat inside pieces of goat belly.
Festivals
